Ah wow, time passes so fast! Before I know it, it's been months since my last update...
Scanning and posting just takes so long, you just want to move on! Most of the stuff I've been drawing in my free time are just studies and gestures anyway. Well with that said, this is a pretty random smattering of stuff.

I also just realized I rarely... wait, I never posted drawings of these original characters before despite them being having existed at least two years ago, so here's a random depiction of one of them being owned by a kid (flattering first post, indeed):

Here we goooo...

This last one was fun, I wanted to try something different, so I limited my tools to two default brushes; pure round brush at 100% opacity w/o sensitivity, and the soft round eraser. Will be experimenting with more stuff like this.

Being at home for the holiday break meant no digital stuff, but it did mean a scanner and time with a sketchbook! This time I had a moleskine softcover book. I like the size of the pages and the feel of 2b/4b pencils on here, makes me think of conte and newsprint~! The only downer is that the drawings show through on the other side of the thin pages :( but it's alright

Wheeew! Getting dusty here. Time to bump some of the ancient stuff off the front page.

Using random ideas derived from dreams as an excuse to mess around in PS. This guy is unnamed and undesigned, the only thing for sure so far is that he has a bullet in his head and that the wound perpetually bleeds if not properly sealed up. HA HA. Gotta love em zombie-like fellas. Anyway, it's fun to mess around with the looks and stuff.

This one below includes gestures from Sword of the Stranger- stuff by the amazing amazing animator Nakamura Yutaka. Did I mention he is AMAZING? !!!

Again... still working on figures and lines and trying to improve in more Animation-friendly drawings. I know other styles are calling... but I can't seem to draw these out of my system. Too much fun!

Hopefully I can get a scanner for the real paper stuff... but until then I'll just continue posting whenever I get around to compiling the digital stuff.

With my interest in storyboarding in mind, I've been practicing moredrawing rather than painting as of late. The production works of Japanese animation has been a great inspiration for me!

Some studies for Rad Sechrist's storyboarding class this past spring at CDA (He's an awesome guy and it was a real fun class, go take it if you're local!) My interpretation with the originals posted on the side/bottom:

I did this skull in Basic Drawing just recently, so when we were to do a fantasy type weapon for Jojo's class, I had some ideas already!

Skulls aside, my laptop is really dying. It's gotten really hard to work on it and after months of denial (I love my macbook!) I decided I need to get a new one soon so that I can save this one before it completely dies. Ah, s'been a good time, buddy.

So Environment class over at CDA has started! I'm so excited, it's my first environment class, and it's been so awesome so far, like all of CDA has been. I'm gonna learn a lot! Here's a bunch of them for class, at different levels of polish; I like only a few of them, but in each of them there's at least a concept I enjoyed. So here's the whole shebang. hopefully by the end of the term I can look back at this and know that I've progressed.

No opacity, no undo, no pressure sensitivity; three layers, an eyedropper, and a pen tool. I like the simplicity forced by having the bare minimum of tools, it keeps you on your toes.

Yesterday's Daily Speed Paint! Because I was in too much of a rush to finish it and get offline and forgot to put it here.

Today, I had 9 hours of class, so either I can't get a picture in by today or it will be very incomplete. If I don't put anything on DA, I'll at least try to upload WIPs here. Er... heads up, I'm out for the weekends for all day long, and Mon-Wed I have class outside of regular class, so only Thursdays and Fridays should have "DSP"s for sure. Actually, one day and an hour or so, because I did the rough for this last night before losing interest in the wake of fanfiction. Seriously, that stuff should be avoided like the plague; it spreads, it is unhealthy, once it gets on you its hard to get rid of, and it has a lot to do with rabid fan girls and boys.
